Sinclair keen to impress Chelsea

On-loan Wigan winger Scott Sinclair is determined to impress during his spell at the DW Stadium.

The 20-year-old has joined the Latics from Chelsea for a full season and is determined to prove he has a future at Stamford Bridge.

"I'm really excited to be here and am looking forward to playing some games and getting involved with the team," he said. "I want to get my head down, work hard and show the fans and the manager my qualities and what I can do."

He added: "With it being a loan deal I obviously want people back at Chelsea to see me do well, but I'm really happy that I get to do that at a great club like Wigan.

"I had my first training session today and it went really well. It was great to meet all the lads who have helped me a lot in settling into the club.

"The gaffer's just told me to enjoy my training, work hard and if I do well enough there will be a place for me in the team.

"All I can do is give 100% in training to prove myself and work hard.

"The manager has spoken to me about how he likes his team to play and all about keeping possession and what his plans are for the club. It's definitely a club moving forward."

Martinez is pleased to have made another creative addition to his squad as he continues plans to get Wigan playing attractive, attacking football.

"Scott is a fantastic talent who can operate either up front or out wide and I'm delighted to have him join us," said the Latics boss. "He'll certainly bring a lot of competitiveness to the team, and hopefully we can help him to continue progressing as a player."
