Sinfield was named man of the match after the Rhinos saw off arch-rivals St Helens yet again in an Old Trafford Grand Final. Lee Smith's second try of the night after 72 minutes effectively clinched victory and the Rhinos held on to prevail 18-10.

Sinfield, who has now lifted the Super League trophy a record four times as captain, said: "The game was the toughest I have ever played in a Grand Final."

He added: "The competition as a whole is much tougher but thankfully we have had enough to come through.

"We are a salary-cap sport. For the management to keep this team together - all right we may lose the odd one each year - but it is an unselfish team in many ways.

"Every one of those players could go to another club and earn more money but they choose to sacrifice a few extra quid in their pocket to play for this great club.

"Money can't buy the memories and what we have had in the last few years. We are a team of billionaires in that respect."

Sinfield gave Leeds the edge in a tight contest with a drop goal early in the second half.

The score had been locked at 8-8 after Leeds responded to a try and two goals from Kyle Eastmond with Matt Diskin and Smith touchdowns.

Another Eastmond goal put Saints back ahead but Smith broke the Merseysiders' spirits and Rob Burrow added a drop goal.
