Skinstad calls it a day

South Africa number eight Bob Skinstad has announced his retirement with immediate effect.

Skinstad, who clinched a place in Jake White's Boks squad after a three-year absence, said: "I leave the game on my terms and with the most wonderful memory of experiencing the thrill of a winning World Cup campaign.

"There were opportunities for 2008, both in Europe and in South Africa, but I know the time is right to say goodbye as a player."
