Spurs looking to the future

Tottenham will use the remaining games of their Barclays Premier League campaign to build for next season, according to assistant boss Gus Poyet.

Spurs are virtually safe from relegation and European football has been secured following the Carling Cup triumph at Wembley, giving a perception of there being little to play for.

However, Poyet wants momentum to take into the 2009 season and said: "The target for us now is that we keep improving and that means we have to win as many games as possible."

Skipper Ledley King is confident Spurs will bounce back from their European disappointment this week and emerge an even stronger team in Juande Ramos' first full season.

Ramos' dream of a UEFA Cup hat-trick ended on penalties against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday.

King feels Spurs can go further next season in the competition Ramos won in the previous two years with Sevilla.

"For us to win something means that the season will still go down as a positive year for us. Now we have that taste of winning something, we believe we can go on do more," King said.

"We still realise that we have a lot of work to do to maintain our standards of trying to win trophies and that's what we'll do. We have learnt from this and we will come back next year a stronger and better team."
