Spurs set for transfer moves
30 January 2008
Hutton, the 23-year-old right-back, is on the verge of a deal from Rangers estimated at £9million after rejecting the move earlier in the month.
"He has shown with his performances for Rangers and Scotland how well he can play. It's a terrific buy for Tottenham," said Rangers boss Walter Smith.
Hutton could make his debut at the weekend against Manchester United, while new centre-back Jonathan Woodgate is in the squad for Wednesday night's clash at Everton.
Pascal Chimbonda returns from suspension for the match at Goodison Park, although Hutton's arrival may increase speculation about his future as first-choice right-back.
Routledge, the former England Under-21 winger, has been expected to leave Spurs this month after failing to make an impression under head coach Juande Ramos. Routledge has made one start and one substitute appearance this season, both under former boss Martin Jol.
Aston Villa are reported to be interested in bringing him to Villa Park to bolster Martin O'Neill's small squad.
