Start delayed at Lord's

Play was expected to be delayed for a considerable time on the second day of the first npower Test between England and India at Lord's.

Overnight rain and early-morning gloom meant the full covers were over the square half-an-hour before the scheduled start time of 11am.

England will resume on 268 for four - presumably after the heavy rain forecasted for the capital ceases - with Kevin Pietersen unbeaten on 34.

Andrew Strauss returned to form with 96, while captain Michael Vaughan ground out 79 after winning the toss for the fifth Test in a row.
