Steinsson closes on Bolton move

Iceland right-back Gretar Steinsson is poised to complete a move to Bolton from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar for a fee reported to be around £3million.

The defender is thrilled at getting a second chance at the Barclays Premier League club after an unsuccessful trial five years ago.

Steinsson, 26, told De Telegraaf: "I said goodbye to the players and staff yesterday. This is a fantastic chance for me. Five years ago I was on trial at Bolton but I wasn't good enough. Now I am. It's a great club which has had many Icelandic players in the past."

Steinsson has spent three seasons with AZ and has also worn the colours of IA Akranes and Young Boys.
