Surprise inclusion for Pietersen

Kevin Pietersen will play his first match for England since the second Ashes Test after being named in the line-up for the second Twenty20 international against South Africa at Centurion.

The Hampshire batsman, who has been sidelined with an Achilles problem, comes in after captain Paul Collingwood was ruled out due to a stiff back. That means Alastair Cook will lead the side in just his fourth Twenty20 appearance for his country, while there was also more bad news after Graeme Swann was ruled out because of a side problem.

Adil Rashid comes in for Swann and will look to contain the Proteas who won the toss and chose to bat.

South Africa made three changes to their team, bringing in Jacques Kallis, Yusuf Abdullah and Heino Kuhn, who will make his debut. Charl Langeveldt, Mark Boucher and Johan Botha were left out.

England team to face South Africa: A N Cook (Capt), J L Denly, I J L Trott, K P Pietersen, E J G Morgan, M J Prior (Wkt), L J Wright, A U Rashid, T T Bresnan, S I Mahmood, J M Anderson.

South Africa team to face England: G C Smith (Capt), L L Bosman, J H Kallis, A B de Villiers, J P Duminy, J A Morkel, H G Kuhn (Wkt) R McLaren, R van der Merwe, D W Steyn, Y A Abdulla.
