Sussex hit top spot
15 January 2007
Durham - a man short with Steve Harmison absent with a hernia - resumed on 108 for six, hoping to avoid a third successive Division One defeat but were 200 runs away from making their hosts bat again.
They were bowled out for 206 with Robin Martin-Jenkins taking two of the three remaining wickets.
The all-rounder removed Dale Benkenstein, who had been Durham's last real hope of avoiding defeat, but was caught by Richard Montgomerie on 50.
Martin-Jenkins then accounted for Liam Plunkett - caught by Michael Yardy on four. Ottis Gibson (68) offered some resistance before he was bowled by Mushtaq Ahmed to end the match.
Play was abandoned for the second time in three days at Edgbaston, where previous leaders Yorkshire were 313 for six against Warwickshire.
And there was no action at Trent Bridge, where Nottinghamshire were in a strong position on 271 for four in their Division Two match against Gloucestershire thanks to David Hussey's unbeaten 114.
Just four overs were played at Taunton, where Northamptonshire were 161 runs from making Somerset bat again with seven wickets remaining.
