Sven's position under scrutiny

Manchester City owner Thaksin Shinawatra is to look at the future of manager Sven-Goran Eriksson at the end of the season.

A poor run of form has reportedly led to the former Thai prime minister, who is owner and chairman of the club, losing confidence in the former England head coach.

Thaksin told reporters in Dubai: "We will have to evaluate at the end of the season."

City have also been linked with a move to replace Eriksson with Portugal boss Luiz Felipe Scolari in the summer.

After a strong start to the season, the Eastlands club have slipped to eighth in the table and European football looks unlikely for next term.
