Thai £92M City takeover - Report

Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra is reported to be considering a £92.2million buy-out of Manchester City.

The former policeman made his fortune with Thailand's biggest communications group Shin Corp and was interested in purchasing a 30% stake in Liverpool in 2004.

Thaksin's legal counsel, Noppadon Pattama, refused to confirm or deny the report but told Thai newspaper The Nation: "As soon as [Thaksin] finishes his vacation, I will ask him about it and hold a news conference."

The 57-year-old, who is reported to have a personal fortune of £560million, is believed to own a property near Kingston-upon-Thames.
