Tiago not interested in Everton switch

Juventus midfielder Tiago has rejected the chance to join Everton, the Serie A club's sporting director Alessio Secco has confirmed.

Juventus and Everton had agreed terms on a year-long loan deal with the possibility of the former Chelsea player joining the Toffees on a permanent basis at the end of the season.

However, Secco told Italian TV channel Canale 5: "We had reached an agreement with Everton for the loan of Tiago. All that was needed was the player's agreement, and that never came."

He added: "We take it, therefore, that Tiago will stay with us."

Juve were thought to be keen to offload the Portugal international in order to make room for more signings before the transfer deadline.

However, Secco announced there will be no new faces at the Turin outfit this summer regardless of whether or not Tiago leaves.

"The market remains closed to us regarding players coming in, like we already said some time ago now," he said.

"Even if Tiago leaves nobody else will come in."
