Tickle hoping for last laugh

Danny Tickle has the chance to make Wigan pay for their decision to cut him down in his prime - when Hull take on the Warriors for a place in Friday's final eliminator at Leeds.

Twelve months ago, the 24-year-old second rower became Wigan's latest salary-cap victim when he was told at the club's last training session of the year he would not be offered a new contract - the bombshell announcement cast a huge doubt over Tickle's future, but Hull stepped in with an offer to rescue his career.

"My contract was up, and I was supposed to be signing a new one. But when they signed Stuart Fielden it all went quiet, and then Maurice Lindsay told me at the last training session I wasn't going to get offered a new contract - which was disappointing," he recalled.

"It was a bit late to find a club - but when Hull came in for me, I jumped at the chance. The move has worked out well.

"I've had a good season so far and I'm really enjoying it at the moment. It was disappointing to leave Wigan - but it's been a great opportunity to get a shirt and do well."
