Tigers clawing in leaders

Phil Brown's Hull moved to within five points of the automatic promotion places in the Coca-Cola Championship with a 3-1 win at 10-man Colchester.

Phil Ifil was sent off after just 14 minutes for a wild lunge at Manchester United loanee Fraizer Campbell, and the striker exacted revenge six minutes later with the opener after hesitancy in the home defence.

Campbell made it two from the edge of the box before Kevin Lisbie gave the Us hope four minutes later, but Caleb Folan sealed the points for the Tigers at Layer Road to leave Colchester marooned at the foot of the table.

Neill Collins' header seven minutes from time handed Wolves a 2-1 win over struggling Scunthorpe at Molineux to boost Wanderers' play-off hopes.

Andy Butler had earlier risen unchallenged to head the division's second-bottom club into the lead in the fourth minute but Michael Gray levelled for the hosts with a fine 20-yard strike.

Dennis Lawrence's header and Jason Scotland's 78th-minute penalty handed Coca-Cola League One leaders Swansea a 2-0 victory at Bristol Rovers.

Febian Brandy was sent off late on for the Swans for a heavy tackle on Danny Coles.

Huddersfield beat Brighton 2-1 at the Galpharm Stadium.

Full-back Andy Holdsworth fired the Terriers ahead but Nicky Forster equalised from the spot moments after the restart.

Chris Brandon gave away the penalty but was then felled at the other end to allow Luke Beckett to stroke home the winner.
