Trescothick is one of 12 players who are centrally contracted to the ECB but after he pulled out of the winter tour to Australia with a stress-related illness which also kept him out of World Cup consideration, there were concerns over his England future.
But he has started the season well for his county and could now win back his place at the top of the order.
Uncapped Durham paceman Graham Onions is one of the more surprising names in the squad.
The 24-year-old was named as a replacement for Darren Gough in the one-day international squad in 2006 but has yet to make his debut.
Two players from new coach Peter Moores' former county Sussex make the squad - Michael Yardy and wicketkeeper Matthew Prior.
Prior now appears to be in a straight battle with World Cup gloveman Paul Nixon, who has also been named after an impressive tournament in the Caribbean.
