Two-week ban for White

Leicester prop Julian White has received a two-week ban for punching his England colleague Andrew Sheridan.

It means the 35-year-old will miss Tigers' Heineken Cup quarter-final against Bath on Saturday, followed by the Guinness Premiership trip to Saracens eight days later.

White, though, will be available for Leicester's probable Premiership title push through the play-offs and the Heineken Cup semi-finals next month.

He was sent off by referee Wayne Barnes mid-way through the first-half of Leicester's 37-31 league victory over Sale Sharks at Welford Road last weekend.

It was White's fourth red card in seven years, although his action appeared to be a retaliatory one.

Worcester hooker Chris Fortey avoided punishment from the same RFU panel that suspended White.

Fortey was cited for a dangerous tackle on Harlequins flanker Will Skinner during the Warriors' 60-14 Guinness Premiership defeat six days ago.

He was yellow-carded for the offence, which the panel judged was a correct decision by the referee David Rose, and no further sanction was needed.

Bath could breathe a sigh of relief after their South African World Cup winner Butch James was cleared to face Leicester this weekend. Fly-half James was found not guilty of an alleged stamp on Wasps and England centre Riki Flutey during a Premiership game last week.

Sale winger Mark Cueto was also suspended for two weeks by a Rugby Football Union Disciplinary Panel. He had been called before the hearing at the Warrington Holiday Inn after being cited for an alleged dangerous tackle on Bath's Andrew Higgins during the Guinness Premiership match at Edgeley Park on March 27.
