United face Roma return

Manchester United will make a Champions League return to play Roma, just a year after crowd violence marred the clubs' last meeting, after they were drawn alongside each other in Thursday's group stages draw.

Last season's quarter-final tussle between the pair was scarred by violence, which overshadowed one of the club's finest European performances of all-time as they thrashed the Serie A outfit 7-1 at Old Trafford after losing the first leg 2-1.

United's group is completed by Sporting Lisbon and Dynamo Kiev and Chelsea will face Rosenborg and FC Schalke.

Chelsea, meanwhile, will also face a re-match against a fallen quarter-final foe, after they were drawn in Group B alongside Valencia, who they ousted from the tournament last season following Michael Essien's last-gasp strike.

Last season's finalists Liverpool's main rivals in Group A are Portuguese outfit Porto, while they will also face Ligue One side Marseille and Besiktas of Turkey.

Arsenal will play one of Sevilla or AEK Athens - who will contest the second leg of their qualifier on September 3 following the death of the Spanish side's Antonio Puerta - as well as Steaua Bucharest and Slavia Prague in Group H.
