United snare Brazilian starlet

Manchester United have announced an agreement to buy exciting Brazilian youngster Anderson from Porto.

Terms have been agreed "in principle" with the Portuguese club for the 19-year-old attacking midfielder, who can also play wide or up front.

A United statement said: "Personal terms have been agreed and a formal announcement will take place once the necessary administrative procedures, including a medical have been completed."

After confirming the agreement to sign Anderson, United then revealed that a deal with Sporting Lisbon for Nani had been reached.

Anderson has attracted interest from across Europe over the last 18 months, but United's coup has come out of the blue.

The Barclays Premiership champions have already lined up the arrival of Owen Hargreaves, while Portuguese winger Nani is on the verge of completing a move after days of speculation.

Anderson, whose full name is Anderson Luis de Abreu Oliveira, has been named in Brazil coach Dunga's squad for the Copa America in Venezuela next month but not Friday's friendly with England at Wembley.
