Vaughan hails young bowlers

Michael Vaughan hailed the performance of England's inexperienced attack but challenged them to maintain those standards for this week's second npower Test at Trent Bridge.

The captain was delighted with the displays of Jimmy Anderson, Ryan Sidebottom, Chris Tremlett and Monty Panesar as England came within one wicket of claiming victory in the rain-affected opening Test against India at Lord's.

"It's just nice to play in a game where we've bowled really well," enthused Vaughan. "If you look back to 2005 that's the sort of performance we put in game after game - we've done it once, but we have to try and do that again at Nottingham."

He added: "For someone like Chris Tremlett to bowl like that on his debut was a tremendous effort. Jimmy Anderson coming back into the team showed a hell of a lot of skill, control and also pace.

"Ryan also came back from where he left off against West Indies and I think we all know that Monty is a good bowler now, so I'm really pleased with the way the attack bowled."
