Vaughan: Test spots still up for grabs

England skipper Michael Vaughan insists he knows what his preferred Test team is - but admits there are still places up for grabs in Sri Lanka.

The tourists play their final warm-up game of the tour on Sunday, and Vaughan believes a good performance could propel a player into the Test side.

"There are still a couple of places up for grabs and we have to make sure that, come Kandy on December 1, we get our XI right," said Vaughan.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka paceman Dilhara Fernando will attempt to play through an ankle injury in the upcoming Investec Test campaign.

Fernando, 28, has been pencilled in for surgery in the spring.

Captain Mahela Jayawardene said: "Dilhara has had that ankle problem for quite some time. He saw some specialist doctors in Australia and they have recommended an operation for him, probably for early April when we get a decent break.

"He had an injection just before we left Australia, so he should be fine for this series."
