Vaughan to undergo knee surgery

Everton striker James Vaughan will have surgery on a knee problem, ruling him out until the new year.

The 20-year-old injured his right knee in training on Friday and after further assessment the club's medical staff have decided the best solution is an operation.

"He will be out until the new year. The only saving grace is that it is not the knee he has had so much trouble with in the past," Everton physio Mick Rathbone told the club's official website.
