Vaughan warns sloppy England

England face two days off from the World Cup with captain Michael Vaughan warning they must improve - or face a disappointing Caribbean exit.

Wednesday's unconvincing four-wicket victory over Bangladesh has set up a showdown with South Africa that should decide if England will progress to the semi-finals.

Vaughan said: "We have to make sure we go into that South Africa game hopefully playing a little bit better."

As disappointed as Vaughan was at yet another batting collapse - they lost four wickets for 40 runs in 11 overs - he can at least console himself with the fact they have gained another two points without playing well.

"It's very similar to where we were at against Canada, Kenya and Ireland - we knew we had to win those games and this was exactly the same," he added.

"Bangladesh had just beaten South Africa and came here full of confidence and we just needed to win the game. We've done that with not the best performance so we can take confidence in that we haven't played that well and we've won the game by four wickets.

"We know we're going to have to improve our display when we play South Africa because we know they are a good side and they're going to put us under pressure."
