Vaughan: We can be successful

Returning England captain Michael Vaughan admits tours do not come much tougher than Sri Lanka but is confident of another memorable series victory.

England defied the tropical conditions to win their one-day series there last month and, after a short break, they returned on Thursday looking for further success in the Test arena.

"It's a tough challenge playing in those conditions - the heat, humidity and playing against a good side," said Vaughan. "But it's certainly a country where if you play it in the right fashion and all play for each other, you can be successful. That's what we hope to do in the next six weeks."

He added: "We have a newish team, a lot of fresh faces, but they have a great attitude and work very hard. If we can stick together as a team, we can be successful.

"Winning that one-day series was an exceptional performance. We have got to try to relive that."
