Vettel splashes way to win

Sebastian Vettel donned his water wings once again to hand Red Bull Racing their first ever victory at the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai.

The 21-year-old German became the youngest winner of a Grand Prix when he won at a wet Monza while at Toro Rosso last year and proved his ability again as Red Bull overcame mechanical problems to secure a one-two with Mark Webber finishing second.

"I am extremely happy. It is the second time now in the wet that I have won a grand prix. Hopefully we can have some more rain," he said.

Brawn GP had dominated the first two races of the season as Jenson Button made full use of the controversial 'double-decker' diffuser to secure wins in Australia and Malaysia.

While the rest of the teams have been scrambling to add their own designs after the FIA ruled the component legal last Wednesday, a diffuser-less Red Bull eased to victory.

The success was all the more impressive after Vettel and Webber had embarked on tentative qualifying sessions due to driveshaft problems that had beset their cars in final practice.

But, in a race that had started behind the safety car due to heavy rain throughout, Red Bull dominated from start to finish to secure the long-awaited win.

"It was very, very difficult throughout the whole race," added Vettel. "Both me and Mark knew we were on the short strategy so we had to push in the beginning to get away from the pack, which we succeeded in doing.

"There was a lot of aquaplaning sometimes. You try to push and get away from the pack lap by lap but I had the best conditions as I had no car in front of me for more or less all the race."
