Victory for Sanchez in defender hunt

Fulham have confirmed the signing of Australian centre-back Adrian Leijer from Melbourne Victory.

Leijer, who won the A-League and grand final with Victory before collecting the competition's young player of the year award, joins for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal.

Fulham manager Lawrie Sanchez, said: "Adrian is a young player with great potential and ability. He is an exciting prospect for the future."

He added: "The Premiership is a tough league to come to and we know it will take Adrian some time to acclimatise to the pace and strength that the league is known for.

"However, I am confident that he will contribute to this season's campaign if called upon and that he will be a great addition to the squad."
