Vikings swoop for Webster

Australian scrum-half James Webster, who was released by both Hull KR and Hull this year, has joined National League One club Widnes Vikings.

The 29-year-old former Hull KR captain, who made only one appearance for Hull before being told he would not be offered a new contract, has signed a two-year deal with Widnes.

"I'm really excited about the move," said Webster. "I met Steve McCormack and Steve O'Connor on Thursday and was really impressed with their plans for the future. All the clubs I have spoken to had some good points to offer but Widnes was the best."
