Villa will not leave Spain - agent

David Villa's agent insists the Valencia star will not be moving to Manchester City or any club outside the Primera Liga.

Valencia vice-president Fernando Gomez confirmed on Thursday they have held talks with City regarding the possible transfer of the Spain striker to the Barclays Premier League side. However, Jose Luis Tamargo claims Villa will not leave Spain.

"He will not move from Spain, he's very clear on that," he told Spanish sports daily El Mundo Deportivo.

Valencia are in deep financial trouble and admitted for the first time last week that they may need to cash in on some of their prized assets in a bid to ease their problems.

Villa, who penned a six-year contract with Valencia only last August, is arguably the club's most valuable player and could net Los Che a fee of around 45million euros.

That would be no problem for cash-rich City, who would also be prepared to pay the 27-year-old a hefty salary to lure him to Eastlands, but Tamargo insists no amount of money would tempt Villa away from Spain.

He added: "I don't know what type of contact there has been between them, if there has been, nor any agreements that could be made but his future will not be outside the country.

"It's not a question of money."

Tamargo's claims will increase speculation the Euro 2008 winner is set for a move to Barcelona at the end of the season, with whom he reportedly has a verbal agreement.
