Vincent in for Lancs

Lancashire have signed former New Zealand batsman Lou Vincent as their replacement overseas player for the Twenty20 Cup.

The 29-year-old has had recent experience in the format having played for the Chandigarh Lions in the Indian Cricket League.

Vincent has played 23 Tests and 102 one-day internationals for the Black Caps, scoring just shy of 4,000 runs.

He comes in for the Red Rose county because Brad Hodge remains on international duty with Australia while Mohammad Yousuf has linked up with Pakistan ahead of their one-day series against Bangladesh and India.

Lancashire cricket manager Mike Watkinson said: "It looks likely that Brad will have to stay in the Caribbean until the end of the one-day series (which finishes on July 6) and Mohammad was unable to extend his stay with the club due to commitments with Pakistan.

"We are about to start a very important Twenty20 competition and we have brought in a player with a great reputation in the format who will add firepower to our top order.

"He is an exciting player and excellent fielder - just what we need for Twenty20 cricket."
