Voronin out for six weeks

Liverpool striker Andriy Voronin is expected to be out for six weeks following confirmation that he needs an ankle operation to repair ligament damage.

The Ukrainian will certainly miss the first leg of Liverpool's Champions League clash with Inter Milan next month.

Defender Alvaro Arbeloa (abdominal injury) will be out for two weeks and misses Saturday's FA Cup fourth round home tie with Havant and Waterlooville.

Rafael Benitez is likely to field players who did not start against Aston Villa on Monday.

That could mean Steve Finnan, Charles Itandje, Lucas Leiva, Peter Crouch, Xabi Alonso and Ryan Babel are named in the starting line-up.
