Wakefield announce Watene death

Wakefield Wildcats have announced the "sudden and unexpected" death of prop Adam Watene.

The powerful former Bradford Bulls front row played 10 matches for the Wildcats last season, scoring two tries.

A statement from the Yorkshire club read: "The Wakefield Trinity Wildcats are sad to announce the sudden passing of Adam Watene, 32. The circumstances surrounding Adam's death were sudden and unexpected."

It continued: "Everyone at the Wildcats' thoughts are with Adam's family, and we ask for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time.

"There will be no further comment from the club at this stage."
