Wakefield swoop for Snitch

Forward Steve Snitch has joined Wakefield Wildcats for a second time following his release by Huddersfield.

The 24-year-old prop or second-rower began his professional career at Belle Vue in 2002 before moving to the Giants in 2006, and now returns on a two-year contract.

"Steve is another great addition to our squad and will add strength in depth," said Wildcats coach John Kear.

Snitch is Wakefield's first confirmed signing for 2009 and will help offset the loss of Duncan MacGillivray, who is retiring, and Jason Golden, who has signed for Harlequins.

Meanwhile, Wakefield's 20-year-old forward Kyle Bibb has signed a two-year extension to his current contract which will keep him at Belle Vue until the end of the 2010 season.

Bibb joined the Wildcats from Hull and, after making his Super League debut this year, went on to make nine more appearances.

"Kyle has progressed immensely this year, getting a number of first-team games under his belt and he really stood up to the challenge," added Kear.

"He has great potential and to secure him for another two years is excellent news for the club."
