Wales wait on Jones news

Two tries from Jonathan Davies, the first for his country in his second appearance, and further scores from Mark Jones, Tom James, Gareth Cooper and a penalty try gave Wales success in its 600th international match after skipper Jones had taken a very heavy blow in the opening minute and been forced off 19 minutes later.

"He had a pretty fair clout on his head and we gave him time to try and get over it and clear his head but unfortunately he wasn't able to," coach Robin McBryde said of his captain. "As to how bad it was we'll have to catch up with the physiotherapists but it's too early to say."

McBryde compared his team's performance to that in last Saturday's hard-won Test against Canada in Toronto.

"It's a mixture the same as last week (against Canada)," he said. "We were hoping for a little bit more accuracy, for them to be more clinical than what we were and perhaps, looking back, I'm being a bit tough on the boys because of the changes we had to make because of injury.

"On the positive side of things, the boys that came on and played in those positions were fantastic, especially someone like Sam Warburton."

USA coach Eddie O'Sullivan was upset with his team's inability to keep the ball.

"In the first half we struggled with that sort of pace and in that space they caused us a lot of problems," he said. "We circled the wagons at half-time and got control of things again but in the second half the story was a little bit different in that we certainly defended a bit better but what we did when we had the football, we turned it over and we paid a big price.

"There was easily 20 points Wales got from turnovers in the second half and that's disappointing.

"So we fixed one thing and something else came loose and so it's a work in progress."
