Warwickshire crowned Champions

Warwickshire clinched the Division Two title before lunch against Glamorgan at Edgbaston after they secured the two further bonus points required to overhaul Worcestershire.

The Bears concluded their first innings on 315 and then Chris Woakes claimed six for 68 to help bowl out Glamorgan for 193 to take the necessary points.

Warwickshire finished the day on 55 for three with Tony Frost (29no) and Jim Troughton set to continue.

Elsewhere, Gloucestershire look likely to end their campaign without a win after a century from Essex wicketkeeper James Foster (122) helped his side total 510 at Bristol.

The home side then struggled to 72 for three at the close with William Porterfield (31no) and Christopher Taylor (14no) challenged with the task of leading the fightback on day three.

Owais Shah (114) and Eoin Morgan (136no) both hit centuries to add to Andrew Strauss' 172 as Middlesex declared on 545 for seven against Northamptonshire at Wantage Road.

Steve Finn then picked up two for 31 to reduce the hosts to 128 for three at the close.

Spinner Jake Needham claimed his best first-class figures of six for 49 to put Derbyshire in control of their match against east midlands rivals Leicestershire at Grace Road.

The Foxes were bowled out for 208 in their first innings and Derbyshire's second innings finished on 85 without loss - a lead of 71 runs - with Paul Borrington (34no) and Steve Stubbings (43) ready to press home the advantage on day three.
