Threatening weather caused play to be halted early in the final round with the leaders through just two holes at Doral Resort's Blue Monster.
Competition resumed nearly three hours later but by then it was too late to have any hope of completing the round before darkness.
Australian Geoff Ogilvy continued to hold a four-shot lead after three holes. He was 17-under, while Englishman Graeme Storm and Australian Adam Scott were equal second at 13-under - also after three holes.
But Tiger Woods' seven-event winning streak was in grave jeopardy. He birdied the first two holes, but promptly bogeyed the next two to fall six strokes off the pace as his putting problems continued.
Earlier, Hartlepool's Storm carded a nine-under-par 63 when the weather-delayed third round was completed, coming home in 29 strokes, courtesy of an eagle and five birdies.
"I made the cardinal sin on the eighth hole of saying I'm putting great and the next thing I three-putt but I made everything coming in," said the 30-year-old former British amateur champion.
"To come back in 29 on a golf course like this is a massive confidence boost."
