Wednesday out of bottom three

Sheffield Wednesday climbed out of the Coca-Cola Championship relegation places on goal difference courtesy of a dramatic 1-1 draw at home to fellow strugglers Coventry.

Substitute Zavon Hines, on loan from West Ham, put Chris Coleman's side ahead seven minutes from time at Hillsborough, but Richard Wood headed home in injury time to snatch a point for the home side, which drops Southampton into the bottom three.

FA Cup semi-finalists Cardiff and West Brom battled to a 0-0 draw at Ninian Park. West Brom remain fourth and Cardiff 12th.

In League One, Luton look doomed after going down 2-1 at Gillingham - Simeon Jackson scoring twice in 12 minutes in the second half after Sam Parkin (19) had given the visitors the lead.

Gillingham remain in the relegation places but are now just one point behind Crewe in 20th.

Leeds moved to within a point of the play-off places with a 1-0 victory at third-placed Doncaster, Alan Sheehan scoring the only goal after 20 minutes.

Nottingham Forest moved up to fourth with a 2-0 win at Carlisle, defender Lee Chambers heading home from a free-kick on 76 minutes and Garath McCleary sealing victory in injury time.

In League Two, Mansfield boosted their hopes of survival and increased Wrexham's woes with a 2-0 victory at Field Mill.

Jefferson Louis opened the scoring after 51 minutes from the penalty spot, and defender Johnny Mullins secured the points just three minutes later. Marc Williams pulled one back for Wrexham but they remain rooted to the foot of the table.

In the night's other game, Rochdale beat Bradford 2-1 - substitute Adam le Fondre grabbing the winner three minutes from time.
