Westwood beaten at the Belfry

Lee Westwood was denied a successful defence of the Quinn Insurance British Masters at The Belfry when he lost to Spain's Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano at the third hole of a play-off.

Three clear with 10 to play, Westwood was reeled in by the Madrid golfer and after each of them had made a 10-footer to stay alive in the fading light, Westwood missed a 15-foot par putt on the next.

New Zealander Michael Campbell was third two shots back on 10 under.
