Price trailed 2-0 at the end of the first round but swung the bout in his favour in a clattering start to round two. A big right hook dumped Timurziev to the canvas to give the Russian a standing count and a second knockdown moments later forced the referee's intervention after 31 seconds of the round.
Price said: "I still can't believe the way that just happened. No-one does that to him. This right hand of mine has come on so much."
He added: "But I've got to take it one day at a time. I've got to win one more to get in the medals. But I can relax a bit now because the first one and the hardest one is out of the way.
"I think I might have paid him a little too much respect in the first round but when he caught me with a right hand I knew I could take his power and when I caught him with my right hand he was gone."
