Wickets tumble at Old Trafford

The hosts were looking well placed to repeat their win at Headingley with Alastair Cook and under-fire captain Michael Vaughan forging a 104-run stand to take England to a promising 117 for one shortly after lunch.
But Vaughan, who received a mixed reception from the loyal Old Trafford crowd following his criticism of Lancashire all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, started a middle order collapse as England slumped to 167 for five at tea on the opening day.
Vaughan battled to 41 in nearly two hours at the crease, but was beaten by seamer Corey Collymore slanting the ball into him and through the gate to smash his stumps.
He was given muted applause on his way back to the pavilion, which contrasted strongly with the enthusiastic welcome for Kevin Pietersen, who lasted only six overs.
Pietersen got off the mark with a confidently-driven cover drive for four off Collymore, but lasted only 23 minutes before he was tempted by a short ball from the same bowler and hooked straight to Dwayne Bravo in the deep.
He was followed back to the pavilion only three overs later by Cook, who cut Test debutant Darren Sammy straight to Bravo in the gully for a cultured 60 spanning nearly three hours at the crease.
Paul Collingwood and Ian Bell attempted to stop the rot and delivered a determined 34-run stand over 12 overs until Taylor returned to win an lbw appeal against the Durham all-rounder shortly before tea.
