Wolves go top

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake scored twice to move Wolves one point clear at the top of the Coca-Cola Championship with a 2-1 win over Swansea at Molineux.

He opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time when he jinked through the Swansea defence before hammering home.

The visitors then hit back through Darren Pratley four minutes after the break when the Wolves defence failed to clear a Swansea corner. But eight minutes later Ebanks-Blake glanced home an inswinging cross to seal the win.

Birmingham lost top spot after a 1-0 defeat to QPR while Derby extended their unbeaten home run to six matches with a 3-1 win over Norwich.

Nottingham Forest ended their 11-match winless run with a 2-1 victory at Crystal Palace which moved them off the foot of the table.

Robbie Blake's goal 10 minutes from time gave Burnley a 1-0 win over Reading and Paul Sturrock sealed a double over his old club Sheffield Wednesday as Plymouth won 1-0 at Hillsborough.

Late goals from Ross McCormack and Peter Whittingham gave Cardiff a 2-0 win over Blackpool while Ipswich were left to rue a Pablo Counago penalty miss as they drew 1-1 with Charlton at Portman Road.

Jon Macken's first-half goal ensured that Barnsley claimed bragging rights from their South Yorkshire derby at the Keepmoat against Doncaster while neighbours Sheffield United drew 0-0 with Bristol City

Billy Jones and Ross Wallace scored a goal apiece to give Preston a 2-0 win over Watford at Deepdale.

David McGoldrick and Clinton Morrison were both on target as Southampton and Coventry shared the points at St Mary's.
