Wolves snap up Hahnemann

Wolves have signed Marcus Hahnemann to mentor goalkeepers Wayne Hennessey and Carl Ikeme, according to chief executive Jez Moxey.

Hahnemann has joined the Coca-Cola Championship winners after being released by Reading and Wolves hope he will add experience to the squad alongside Hennessey and Ikeme.

"Marcus Hahnemann is coming to play football and is going to challenge for the number one spot," Moxey told Setanta Sports News. "He brings a wealth of experience to our young goalkeepers, who are outstanding."

He added: "We asked Marcus to provide that mentoring role for Wayne and for Carl. He's really up for doing that, so we're pleased with the signing."

Moxey made it clear the arrival of Hahnemann did not mean either Hennessey or Ikeme would be leaving the club.

"Wayne is going to be at Molineux plying his trade," he said. "He'll be here helping to keep us in the Premier League. He's an outstanding goalkeeper, as is Carlo and Matt (Murray), who's injured."

Moxey revealed that Wolves were looking to recruit experienced players who can help them stay in the Premier League.

"We're looking for experience but we won't turn down a young player if he's the right player and he's got the right talent.

"But so far in Nenad Milijas and Marcus Hahnemann we've signed two really experienced players."
