Woods paired with US Open champion

Tiger Woods has been paired with US Open champion Angel Cabrera and Australian Stuart Appleby for the first and second rounds of the Masters at Augusta National.

Woods begins his quest for a fifth green jacket at 1045 local time (1545 BST) on Thursday alongside Argentinian Cabrera, who held off Woods to win the US Open at Oakmont last year.

Appleby had the lead at Augusta after three rounds last year and played with Woods in the final group on Sunday.

Arnold Palmer will start the event with a ceremonial first tee shot at 0750 local time. Ben Curtis and Shaun Micheel, who each have one career major championship to their credit, play in the first official group and start at 0800.

Defending champion Zach Johnson has a 1023am tee time and is grouped with England's Luke Donald and Australia's Geoff Ogilvy, the 2006 US Open champion.

Padraig Harrington, the 2007 Open champion, starts at 1034 (1534) along with Canada's Mike Weir and Jeev Milkha Singh of India.

Phil Mickelson goes for his third green jacket this week and starts that quest at 1341 (1841) on Thursday with Andres Romero of Argentina and KJ Choi of South Korea.

England's Justin Rose is in the group going out after Woods at 1056, alongside Sweden's Henrik Stenson and Japan's Toru Taniguchi, while Ian Poulter joins Mark O'Meara and amateur Trip Kuehne out at 0822.
