Wright-Phillips still sidelined

Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips was again absent from England's final training session before Saturday's friendly against Slovakia at Wembley.

Wright-Phillips has been unable to train all week because of an ankle problem and it is highly unlikely he will now be fit to play any part in the warm-up game ahead of Wednesday's World Cup qualifier against Ukraine.

Striker Peter Crouch was again able to join in with his team-mates after missing training during the early part of the week because of a tight calf suffered during Portsmouth's weekend victory over Everton.

David Beckham will break Bobby Moore's outfield appearance record for England if he wins his 109th cap against the Slovakians.

With Wright-Phillips missing, Fabio Capello is expected to choose between Aaron Lennon and Beckham on the right-hand side of midfield.

The suggestion is Lennon will get the nod, although, with Capello pledging to make all six available substitutions, Beckham should get on the pitch at some point.

It is also expected that Steven Gerrard will occupy a left-sided berth, although the Liverpool skipper would be given licence to roam inside whenever he saw the opportunity.

There has also been some speculation that Manchester United keeper, Ben Foster, may start in goal, winning only his second cap, two years after his first, which came against Spain at Old Trafford.

John Terry will captain the team, partnering Rio Ferdinand in central defence for the first time since last October, while Wayne Rooney should also be involved after missing the recent friendlies in Germany and Spain.
