Yousuf leads Pakistan to victory

Mohammad Yousuf was again the batting hero for Pakistan as the hosts took a 2-1 lead in the five-match one-day series against South Africa courtesy of a six-wicket triumph in Faisalabad.

The 33-year-old, whose majestic knock of 117 helped Pakistan level the series with a 25-run win in Lahore on Saturday, finished unbeaten on 58 at Iqbal Stadium on Tuesday to help his team pass their victory target of 198.

South Africa skipper Graeme Smith won the toss and elected to bat, but may have regretted that decision when his side were reduced to 197 all out.

Shahid Afridi and Iftikhar Anjum were the chief architects of the Proteas' collapse with three wickets apiece, with Smith (48) and Justin Kemp (42) the only batsmen to pass 20.

Afridi's quickfire 32 off 18 balls at the top of the Pakistan order capped another fine all-round personal display before Yousuf, Shoaib Malik (42) and Misbah-ul-Haq (29 not out) saw the home team reach 202 for four from 48.1 overs.

Herschelle Gibbs and Smith made a solid start to the morning's play, putting on 43 for the first South African wicket. Gibbs was first to go when he got an outside edge to an Umar Gul delivery and was caught behind by Kamran Akmal for 19.

Jacques Kallis then came to the crease but put on only 13 before chipping to Misbah at cover off Afridi.

AB de Villiers did not fare much better, caught at short mid-wicket by Afridi off Anjum for 17 to leave South Africa struggling on 77 for three in the 20th over.

Smith was then joined in the middle by Kemp and the pair put on 45 for the fourth wicket before the captain was run out attempting a quick single.

After sharing a partnership of 40 with Mark Boucher, Kemp followed his skipper back to the pavilion when he was bowled by Afridi playing across the line. Boucher added 17 before falling to Abdur Rehman, caught at mid-off by Malik.
