Zola aims to cash in with Bellamy

West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola has been assured he will be given any money raised by the sale of Craig Bellamy to strengthen the squad.

Bellamy's ill-fated 18-month spell at Upton Park looks over after the Wales striker was omitted from the squad that thumped Fulham 3-1 on Sunday with Tottenham and Manchester City having had bids turned down for a player who is determined to leave.

"If he's sold I will get the money to spend on other players. We are looking at targets," said Zola. "It's important that the situation is dealt with as soon as possible. There's no deadline but I need to get on with my squad."

He added: "Craig wasn't in the squad because he wasn't in the right frame of mind.

"I don't know what will happen - I don't know if he's played his last game for the club.

"I respect him and his attitude to me has been great, he always gives me 100%. He knows I like him as a player.

"Craig is a player that I value very much but if he doesn't want to stay there's not much we can do about it."

Bellamy was not missed as in-form West Ham swept aside a lacklustre Fulham to amass their fourth victory in five matches.

David di Michele fired the opener after a dreadful blunder by John Pantsil only for a magnificent 30-yard strike from Paul Konchesky to level the score.

The Fulham left-back then hacked down Carlton Cole, allowing Mark Noble to pounce from the spot and man of the match Cole sealed the result 15 minutes from time.
