Inbev close to £23bn bid for Budweiser brewer

27.05.08

Inbev's mooted £23 billion bid for rival beer brewer Anheuser-Busch could come as early as today.

Reports in Europe say the maker of Stella and Becks is about to formally launch its $65 a share offer for the American maker of Budweiser, though the company had no comment.

Inbev is said to have the financing from JPMorgan and Santander in place for the bid. Anheuser dominates the US market but has suffered lately as drinkers shift to wine and spirits.
