16.07.08

Luminar, Britain's biggest nightclubs chain, has seen a "sharp decline" in clubgoers.

Today it blamed the worsening economy, bad weather and the Euro 2008 football. Revenues fell 2.4% in the first nine weeks of the financial year against growth of 9.8% a year earlier. However, this also reflects the fact that 12 of its clubs were being refurbished.

Luminar said it remains financially strong, with "adequate facilities that will not require further negotiation in these uncertain times".
