Ten Alps to set up TV channel

Boffins and other lab rats who begin to understand what the Large Hadron Collider is up to in the earth under Geneva can tune in soon to their own dedicated online television science channel.
Indie producer Brook Lapping, owned by Bob Geldof's listed media group Ten Alps, is to launch The Newton Project in a joint venture with the Science Museum and the Royal Institution.
The free-to-use channel will aim to break topical stories and host debate.
Coverage will include events from the Science Museum and it will carry lectures and research from the Royal Institution.
The website will be used for blogs and social networking.
"There is a lot more to science than killer volcanoes or sensationalised health stories," said Stephen Wilkinson who is heading The Newton Project.
"This is the perfect time to create a channel for science-lovers currently under-served by TV broadcasters."
