Four top bankers leaving Lehman

02.10.08

Lehman Brothers' European co-chief executive officer is among at least four top bankers who will leave the firm after Nomura's takeover.

Riccardo Banchetti, 42, co-CEO for Lehman in Europe, and Alexis de Rosnay, 41, who co-headed investment banking for the region, will leave after Nomura takes over parts of Lehman's European operations.

Michael Tory, 47, head of UK investment banking, and Xavier Rolet, 48, CEO for France, will also leave, Bloomberg reported.

Nomura, Japan's largest securities firm, agreed to acquire Lehman's European investment banking and equities businesses last week.

The Tokyo-based bank is trying to retain top bankers by offering to pay them their 2007 compensation over two years.

De Rosnay and Banchetti both took up their positions a week before the firm filed for bankruptcy.

Lehman has cut 750 jobs in its European fixed-income and personal investment-management units after talks to find a buyer failed.

The cuts will fall mainly in fixed income.
