OLEG Deripaska, the tycoon caught up in the George Osborne sleaze row, has lost his crown as Russia's richest oligarch.

The metals magnate, who owns a house in Belgrave Square, is now the country's eighth richest citizen, according to business magazine Finans. His estimated fortune plunged by almost 90% to $4.9 billion last year.

Mikhail Prokhorov, a 43-year old mining and technology billionaire and one of Deripaska's partners at the group, now claims top spot. The 6 ft 7in playboy bachelor and kickboxing lover has estimated wealth of $14.1 billion.

Prokhorov sold most of his assets before prices began to crash, but he has still seen $7 billion wiped off his fortune in the past 12 months.

Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich kept hold of second place despite his fortune shrinking from $23 billion to $13.9 billion.
