Lord Simon to step down at Unilever

City grandee Lord Simon of Highbury is to stand down as vice chairman of Unilever in May to be replaced by outgoing Shell chief Jeroen van der Veer.

The 69-year-old, a former chief executive and chairman of BP and a trade minister between 1997 and 1999, is retiring after nine years at the firm.
